Der Blickwinkel meiner Kunst konzentriert sich auf den urbanen Lebensraum des heutigen Europa. Dabei interessiert mich die Stadt (besonders die Hafenstadt) als komprimierter und dennoch komplexer Spiegel menschlichen Schicksals, Lebensarten, Arbeitswelt, Kulturen und psychischer Strukturen. Im künstlerischen Prozess verzerre ich diesen Spiegel subjektiv oder erschaffe ihn in Facetten neu.

Was mich am Liverpool-Thema der vergangenen Jahre besonders fesselte, war der Umstand, dass ich mit der vorurteilsbeladenen Erwartung, einer hässliche Industrie- und Brennpunktstadt vorzufinden, als Studentin für eine Zeit in diese Stadt zog. Schließlich fand ich – überraschend – nicht bloß die erwartete Hässlichkeit vor, sondern unkonventionelle Schönheit. Diese unerwartete Schönheit in Liverpools Bewohnern, Architektur, Baustellen, rostigem Stahl, verlassenen Lagerhäusern und anderen Lebensspuren zu entdecken, verlangt nach einer lebendigen und offenen Haltung, wie auch einer starken Neugierde.

Seit der Bekanntschaft mit Liverpool hat mich diese Haltung und Neugierde nie wieder verlassen.

So entstand in den letzten Jahren – zum Teil in Kooperation mit meiner Künstlerfreundin Natalie Hoffmeister (Graphik-Designerin) - das Projekt “Liverpool / beauty – surprisingly found“. Seit unserer Jungend teilen wir die Leidenschaft für Atmosphäre und Motive ausgewählter Städte und arbeiten immer wieder auch gemeinsam am Städtethema.

My point of view is that of an artist who concentrate on urban living-space in contemporary Europe. I compare the city (especially the harbour-city) and it´s function as living-space, with a coloured mirror of human destiny, ways of life, cultures and psychological structures. A very compressed but also very complex mirror. And of course – being subjective - I also distort this mirror or invent new facets of it´s appearance.

Concerning the Liverpool-theme of the last years I was enthralled by the effect this city had on me: I gave up the bundle of prejudices with which I first came to live in this city for some time as student. I´ve had expected an ugly industrial city with social problems. In the end I found not just the expected ugliness but also an unexpected kind of unconventional beauty.

To see (unexpected) beauty in Liverpool`s people, architecture, building-sites, rotten steel, left warehouses and other tracks of life call for a vivid and open attitude as well as strong curiosity. Since my acquaintance with Liverpool this curiosity never left me the past years.

So the project “Liverpool / beauty – surprisingly found” came to life. Partially in cooperation with my artist-friend Natalie Hoffmeister (graphic-designer). Since our youth (fate let us meet in school when we were eleven years old) Natalie and I share a deep interest in city-atmosphere and motifs and work together about the urban-theme.
